THE ROMANTIC FAIRHAVEN MARQUEE IS PERFECT FOR A COUNTRY OR COASTAL WEDDING
Talking Wedding Flowers With Angie And Rhiannon At Flower Jar
Well…it’s officially engagement season. With an estimated 40% of marriage proposals taking place between the festive season and Valentine’s Day it’s the busiest time of year for the Peter Rowland wedding planning team.
It’s impossible to imagine a more personal and individual occasion than a wedding. Whether you are dreaming of a refined three-course sit down dinner, a champagne reception with chic canapes or a welcoming buffet we will work with you to find the perfect location and create the perfect wedding catering menu. Our wedding planners also help you with inspiration for wedding flowers, styling and entertainment to suit your personal style.
Peonies or poppies, roses or ranunculus. When it comes to wedding flowers the possibilities are endless. We’ve asked two of our most trusted and delightful wedding collaborators to answer some of the most frequently asked questions we hear from our couples.
Working from their chic flower studio in Melbourne’s Cremorne, London trained Angie and Rhiannon are the everyday hands, hearts and heads behind Flower Jar, creating perfect posies, boutonnieres and spectacular event flowers for weddings, at-homes and corporate events. Incidentally, they also have a dreamy Instagram account that is essential following for every bride.
FLOWER JAR FOUNDERS ANGIE AND RHIANNON ARE TWO OF OUR FAVOURITE WEDDING
COLLABORATORS
What is Flower Jar famous for?
We are known for attention to detail and our ability to translate vague flowery dreams into reality. We deliver quality and style that is made with love and while we are adaptable in our flower style we do like to add a slight textural or colour twist onto the classics.
How many weddings have you ‘flowered’? What is the most memorable wedding and why?
Since starting Flower Jar back in 2011 as a very rough estimate we would have flowered at least 400+ weddings.
Sometimes it’s the extreme circumstances that make a wedding memorable: that really hot day that drives us to sweat and drink frozen cokes all day long, or a tight set up time that pushes us into creative over-drive. It may be a new location that we get to flower, or sometimes it’s just being at the flower market that one day when all the stars align to create our perfect flower selections. Each wedding is so special when we are in the process of dreaming and creating.
What’s on trend now for wedding flowers and what’s making a comeback?
Since starting Flower Jar back in 2011 as a very rough estimate we would have flowered at least 400+ weddings.
We have noticed more personalised and braver colour palettes. Couples are introducing accent colours that have not traditionally been used – mustards with peaches, dusty mauves with reds. We’re being pushed to the limit to bring interesting combinations together.
COUPLES ARE CHOOSING TO EXPRESS THEIR PERSONAL STYLE THROUGH BOLD AND NON-TRADITIONAL COLOUR COMBINATIONS
What do you recommend for wedding flowers that still look beautiful for couples on a tight budget?
Trust in your flower suppliers. We can suggest seasonal blooms and textures that will suit the style and colours for your day. Sometimes it’s just that small pop of fresh flowers that will bring your spaces to life and please, for the love of all things flowery – no artificial flowers.
Concentrate your budget in fewer areas to create maximum impact and if you are on a fixed budget, be upfront with it so we can suggest what is achievable within your limits.
What other elements of the wedding do you take into account when planning the floral theme?
Firstly the colour palette and personal style that our couples have chosen to work with is super important. Also, the location. Is it a garden wedding, a more classic venue, or something a little more left of centre?
ON A TIGHT BUDGET? CONCENTRATE YOUR BUDGET IN FEWER AREAS TO CREATE MAXIMUM IMPACT
How do wedding caterers and florists collaborate to create beautiful weddings?
Table plans and the style of catering are super important to coordinate. Do we need to leave table space for shared platters? Are there a million wine glasses that need to be on the tables? Are the tables round, long, narrow?
The timings and logistics involved also require that we work with the caterers to ensure the setup of our elements work in with theirs, so everything is perfect, in place and ready to roll on time.
What would be your dream wedding brief?
The dream brief would be no brief – maybe a just a rough colour palette to keep in mind, and away we go!
WHEN IT COMES TO TABLE SETTINGS COLLABORATION AND CLEAR COMMUNICATION BETWEEN YOUR WEDDING CATERER AND FLORIST IS ESSENTIAL
